Students from Berkeley Law, Berkeley-Haas, and the College of Environmental Design will be teamed up on March 14, 2018 at Berkeley Law to negotiate a simulated real estate deal prepared by leading real estate law firm Pircher, Nichols & Meeks. Students enter individually and team members will be assigned randomly. No prior experience in joint venture structuring, real estate finance or similar activities is necessary.
In early March, teams will be announced and provided with a real estate deal fact pattern and a list of key legal and business issues. On March 14th from 12pm to 5pm at Berkeley Law, teams will attend a one-hour overview presentation on real estate JVs, participate in a two-hour coaching session with a lawyer coach, and then negotiate the issues against opposing teams, in front of a panel of judges with significant JV experience who will evaluate each team’s performance.
