2022 Berkeley Forum on Corporate Governance | Paper Award Competition

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Berkeley Center for Law and Business will host the annual Berkeley Forum on Corporate Governance in San Francisco on November 8-9, 2022. In the context of the forum, we will also host an academic symposium focusing on ESG-related topics (broadly defined) and include 8-10 papers, two of which will be selected to receive the 2022 Berkeley Center for Law and Business Best Paper Award and a $10,000 prize.

PAPER SUBMISSIONS:

The goal of this competition is to highlight current legal research in ESG issues and bring together leading legal scholars, practitioners, and investors. To encourage all scholars to participate, we will award one prize to a junior scholar (one who has been in a tenure-track position for fewer than eight years) and one prize to a senior scholar (one who has been in a tenure-track position for eight or more years).

We will select 8 to 10 papers as finalists. If selected for the award or as a finalist, it is required that one of the paper’s authors be available to present the paper in-person at both the forum and the academic symposium. The symposium will take place on November 7, 2022, providing all finalists with the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback.

Submissions are now closed.

FURTHER INFORMATION: General inquiries regarding the competition, the Forum, and the Symposium should be directed to bclb@law.berkeley.edu.

Please note that the selection of winners/finalists, if any, is at the sole discretion of the Berkeley Center for Law and Business. We fully anticipate awarding two $10,000 prizes but reserve the right to select no papers as winners in the event papers submitted do not meet the guidelines and/or we do not believe any paper is worthy of the award.
