Our official name is the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. With external audiences, we will use our official name in full or in one of two abbreviated forms: UC Berkeley School of Law or Berkeley Law.

Graphic Identity System

The Berkeley Law graphic identity consists of a family of logos representing the school and its affiliates, plus corresponding suites of materials for correspondence, presentation, and other purposes.

The style guide illustrates the logo and stationery designs that constitute the graphic identity, and displays each item in the system with specifications and usage guidelines.

There are two types of logos within the system, each with its own purpose. Available file types and related information are available in both versions of the style guide (see above).

Berkeley Law Logo
This is the primary expression of the school’s identity. It is appropriate to use with most audiences, particularly external ones.

Berkeley Law/Affiliate Logos
Custom logos are available to all the school’s affiliates. Each juxtaposes the Berkeley Law logo with the name of a single center, institute, or clinic.

The UC Berkeley seal is an important element in our graphic identity. Providing a traditional counterpoint to the contemporary design of our logo, it appears on a variety of stationery and presentation items.

Offset Printing Templates

Templates are available for creating components of the stationery system via offset printing. These high-volume print jobs are performed by professional printers using PANTONE® Uncoated Colors. 

Offset printing templates are available in two treatments:

Electronic Templates

Electronic templates are available for desktop publishing of correspondence, presentations, and other materials not requiring offset printing. Certain elements of these templates, such as the logo, are fixed, and others, such as the return address, are editable. Specifications are built into the templates and are detailed in the Berkeley Law style guide. All materials created using these electronic templates may be printed on laser or inkjet printers (preferably color). These templates should not be used for offset printing.
