Cost of Attendance

The Cost of Attendance (COA) or “budget” for a student is an estimate of that student’s educational expenses for the period of enrollment. It includes billed expenses (tuition, fees, health insurance), and estimates for non-billed expenses. All amounts are in U.S. Dollars.

Tuition and fees (billed expenses) are around $69,000 total for all tracks, with some exceptions. Click the dropdown boxes below for current COA estimates for our LL.M. program, by track.

All living expenses are estimates based on a single professional (graduate) program student at UC Berkeley. Since all estimates are expected and not guaranteed, students should consider their own spending patterns and the possibility of unforeseen expenses when planning their budgets.

Check back in July 2022 for the 2022-2023 COA.

“Tuition” at Berkeley Law is a combination of a number of campus and program fees. The LL.M. Program Fee represents the largest portion of total fees students pay.

Other fees that will be billed to LL.M. students include, but are not limited to:

  • Berkeley Campus Fee
  • Class Pass Fee
  • Document Management Fee (billed in the first semester only)

The sum of all billed tuition fees (excluding SHIP) will equal the amount of Tuition and Fees listed in the COA estimates above.

For an explanation of what each fee is comprised of, go to https://registrar.berkeley.edu/tuition-fees-residency/tuition-fees/.

All fees are subject to change.

If you have comparable insurance, you may request to waive enrollment. Go to the University Health Services website for more information. If you qualify and waive SHIP enrollment, these fees will NOT be included in your billed expenses. However, the estimated expenses will still be included in your estimated Cost of Attendance.
