After you have submitted your J.S.D. application through LSAC, you will receive an e-mail from the Advanced Degree Programs Office with your Applicant Status Online username and password.
The first time you log in, you will be asked to choose a new password and a security question. If you cannot remember your password, first try to retrieve it by answering your security question. If you cannot remember your password or answer your security question, write to email@example.com to request a password reset.
If after checking your status online you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Advanced Degree Programs Office. Please note that it can take up to a few business days for us to process items received either by post or from LSAC. If you think we should have received an item but it is not reflected on your checklist, please wait at least two business days and check again before contacting our office.
Application received – Your application has been received and is being processed. Check the Requirements List to see if any items are missing, and submit missing materials by the February 1 deadline.
Application complete – All of the required materials have been received, and no further action is required.
Application ready for review – Your application is ready for review, and no further action is required. Your application is complete and being held until the review committee is ready to review it. All J.S.D. applications are reviewed at the same time, after the application deadline, and early or expedited decisions are not possible.
Application under review – Your application is under review, and you will receive notification of the decision as soon as possible. Please note that the review process can take up to a month, and early or expedited decisions are not possible.
A decision has been reached – Your admission decisions has been sent by e-mail.
Application withdrawn – Your application has been withdrawn.
We will check off materials on your requirements list as they are received. It can take a few business days to process items after they are received, so please wait a few days and check your online status again before contacting the Advanced Degree Programs Office. If any items are unchecked, follow these instructions:
Application Fee – Pay the $80 application fee by credit card while submitting your online application
Transcripts – If this box is unchecked, we have not yet received ALL of your transcripts. Request that the missing transcripts be sent to LSAC or the Advanced Degree Programs Office, per the application instructions. Please note that LSAC will not forward any report until all academic records have been received. Click here for more information.
Two Letters of Recommendation – Submit your letters of recommendation to LSAC accompanied by their recommendation form, or to the Advanced Degree Programs Office, per the application instructions. Click here for more information.

TOEFL, IELTS or Waiver – Request that your TOEFL or IELTS score report be sent to LSAC, or if you are requesting an English Language Requirement Waiver, answer “yes” to the question under English Requirement on the application. Click here for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions
I just submitted my online application; when will I receive my online status username and password?
It usually takes one to two business days from the time you submit your online application to the time when we send your online status username and password by e-mail. If you have not received your information within two business days of submitting your application, excluding weekends, please contact the Advanced Degree Programs Office. Please note that our e-mails are sometimes filtered into spam folders.
I’ve submitted all of my transcripts to LSAC, but the Transcripts box is not checked.
If you signed up for LSAC’s Credential Assembly Service only, LSAC will send your report to Berkeley Law once they have received all of your academic records. If you registered for LSAC’s International Transcript Authentication & Evaluation Service, LSAC will send your report once they have received, authenticated and evaluated all of your academic records. LSAC is quite busy during the application season, so this can take some time. As long as your academic records have been sent to LSAC by our February 1st deadline, you have met our requirements. You can check your report status by logging in to LSAC.
The Mailings section indicates that a decision e-mail was sent, but I haven’t received it.
Decisions are sent to the primary e-mail address listed in your online application. Please check your spam folder, and if you still do not see the decision e-mail you can contact the Advanced Degree Programs Office to have it sent again.
