This series covered the importance of talent retention, leadership, and networking to advance the careers of women in the preparation of business law. Topics addressed included best practices in recruiting, preservation, and promotion. In addition to mid-upper management, partners, and general counsel, we welcomed practitioners of all genders and at all levels of their careers to encourage a dynamic, inclusive debate around the talent pipeline as well as create a network of partners, mentors, and successful women!

This session discussed tips for defining career goals, drafting and executing career development, and facilitating networking exercises.

This session discussed preparations for a business law career while in law school, participation in women’s and business law groups, the benefits of summer associate positions and internships, and building relationships with practicing business lawyers.

This session addressed utilizing internal and external formal business law training programs, using client and matter work assignments to develop skills and build internal and external relationships, shadowing more senior attorneys to build skills and relationships, developing mentors, usage of career coaching programs, and leadership positions in affinity groups (firm, corporate, professional, and community).
