Jesse Honig is a Research Fellow with the Wheeler Water Institute at UC Berkeley’s Center for Law, Energy & the Environment (CLEE). His work at CLEE focuses on the development, governance and funding of watershed-scale monitoring programs. He has also published on the unique characteristics of “wolf law” as well as the ways that local restrictions pose barriers to clean energy projects.

Jesse earned a J.D. from UC Law San Francisco with a concentration in Environmental Law. As a law student, he interned with the Indian Resources Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, the California Public Utilities Commission, and a plaintiff-side law firm specializing in environmental law. He clerked for trial court judges at both state and federal courts, was a member of the Environmental Law Association and Human Rights & International Law Organizations, and was the Executive Notes Editor of the UC Law Journal. Prior to law school, Jesse worked as an artisan baker in the Bay Area focusing on stone-milled flours, ancient grains, and whole-grain, naturally leavened breads and pastries. He graduated from Pitzer College with a dual degree in Economics and Environmental Analysis.
