- Access and manage voicemail via the telephone.
- Access and manage your voicemail online through the Web Portal (https://calvoicemail.voice.berkeley.edu). For security reasons, access is restricted to users connected to the campus network or logged in via VPN. Please refer to these Berkeley IT instructions on How to Log into Avaya IX Messaging Voicemail Web Accesses.
- Play back messages over your computer speakers.
- Receive a courtesy copy of your voicemail messages in your email as “.wav”
- Never worry about messages aging off or an accidentally deleted message – messages remain in your email and can be saved into a folder or your desktop.
- Set up rules for Notification and Follow Me service.
Telephone Access for New Users
When accessing your voice mailbox for the first time you will be prompted to complete a Quick Set Up. This set up must be completed before you can begin listening to any new messages callers may have left you. If you need your password reset, please email phones@law.berkeley.edu and a Temporary Security Code will be generated.
Avaya Messaging ADA User Guide
This guide to the Avaya Messaging Voicemail system is provided by The Communications & Network Services Support Team | Berkeley IT. All of the commands listed below are to be performed over your campus provided telephone. These commands will work regardless of what style phone you are using.
Quick Reference
Accessing Your Mailbox
1. Dial into the system.
a. From inside UC Berkeley dial extension 6-2626
b. From outside UC Berkeley dial number 510-666-2626
2. Enter your Mailbox number. Your Mailbox Number will usually be the last
seven digits of your ten digit telephone number. For example telephone
number 510-642-1234 will have the mailbox number of 642-1234.
3. Enter your password.
Change Your Password
1. Log into your mailbox.
2. From the Main Menu, press 4.
3. From the Personal Mailbox Options, press 9.
4. Follow the voice instructions to modify your password.
Listen to Voice Messages
1. Log into your Mailbox.
2. From the Main Menu, press 1.
3. Select one of the following options:
a. New (unread) messages, press 1
b. Old (read) messages, press 2
c. All messages, press 9
Message Playback Control
• During message playback:
• Rewind message (5 sec), press 1
• Pause message (5 sec), press 2
• Fast Forward message (5 sec), press 3
Configuring Mailbox and Greetings
Note: The keys entered here assumes that you’re logged in and are currently in the main menu.
• Change your Name: Press 4, then 3, then 3.
• Change your Extended Absence Greeting: Press 4, then 3, then 2.
• Change your Personal Mailbox Greeting: Press 4, then 3, then 1
• Change Location to In Office: Press 4, then 6, then 1
• Change Location to Extended Absence: Press 4, then 6, then 6
• Change your Password: Press 4, then 2, then 1, then 1
Post Message Options
Note: The keys entered here assumes that you’ve listened to or are listening to a message.
• To Reply to a Message: Press 8
• To Save a Message: Press 9
