In the event of a wildfire in the area, you can monitor incidents via Cal Fire. Become familiar with evacuation routes in your area and watch for UBC WarnMe alerts. The City of Berkeley’s Wildfire Evacuation information can be found here.
Whenever there is danger of a wildfire, pack a Go Bag so you are ready to evacuate quickly, if necessary. Several changes of clothes, water, important documents, face masks, medicines, a first aid kit, flashlight, cash, non-perishable foods and a cell phone charger are a good start. A more extensive list of items to pack can be found here. If you have a car, it is also a good idea to have a Go Bag in your car.
