Mail Services

All mailing on UC Berkeley Campus has to be handled by UC Mail Services (http://www.mailservices.berkeley.edu/).

If you plan on sending US mail from your journal office, you can do so without using stamps!! The University’s Mail Services Department can provide you with adhesive barcodes which can be affixed directly to your envelopes/ boxes. You can then put any outgoing items in the mailboxes located within Boalt (outside the elevator doors in Simon Hall), so that mail services can send them out through the regular US Postal Service. Once scanned, the postage is automatically debited from your publications account.

In order to obtain the barcodes, you’ll have to request them from the Publications Coordinator. She can order up to 250 at a time online, which are received 24 hours after she emails in the request. Additionally, if you plan on doing a large bulk mailing from your office, you can request ‘barcode facing sheets’. These facing sheets can be printed out by the Publications Coordinator on demand (no advance preparation needed!) and then included on top of your bundle of envelopes (which do not have to be sealed!), so that you do not have to include individual adhesive barcodes on each individual envelope.

Apply Barcode Labels to Individual Mail Pieces

Order pressure sensitive labels from Mail Services and apply the labels to individual mail pieces. We deliver the labels to you the day after you order them.

Bundle Mail by Recharge Number using a Barcoded Facing Sheet

Bundle mail by recharge number and wrap each bundle with a barcoded facing sheet that can be printed out from this web site. The facing sheets can be printed on demand — no advance preparation is necessary.
