- Is there an add/drop deadline? Yes, it’s June 4 (one week after
class starts). -
Is this just a stand-alone course? Currently yes, but it is
intended to be part of an online certificate program that is still in
development. -
Is that like the LL.M. certificates? No, the online certificates
will not be a part of the LL.M. program. -
Some parts of the course are described as “synchronous” or
“asynchronous.” What do those terms mean? Synchronous means you’re
attending the course “live” while the professor is lecturing/leading discussion
in real time. Asynchronous means the course material is available whenever you
are ready to engage with it. -
When are the live (synchronous) lectures? We will schedule these at
the beginning of the course to accommodate as many student schedules (and
varying time zones) as possible. -
Why was I directed to UC
Online Education to register? I thought this was a Berkeley Law course. UC
Online Education (UCOE) manages the online education platforms for the
University of California system. -
Who is taking this class? The pilot course is restricted to LL.B.
and LL.M. holders: incoming Berkeley Law students, alumni, and practicing
attorneys. -
I have a J.D. Can I take this course? No, currently the pilot
course is not open to J.D. students or alumni. -
What does it mean that this is a pilot test? It means this is our
first time offering online courses and so we are testing the entire system to
make sure everything works. We will gather feedback from participants to
improve course offerings. The certificate program is still in development and
offering this first course is part of the test phase. -
How much does this cost? We’re offering the pilot program at no
cost.
