Bobby McCarthy has been a Research Associate at the Chief
Justice Earl Warren Institute on Law & Social Policy since May 2013, and has
co-authored a series of studies on community policing and crime trends for the
City of Oakland as part of the city’s Measure Y community policing evaluation.
He has also produced geo-statistical analyses of crime and shooting incidents for
the East Palo Alto Police Department in support of the Warren Institute’s
research efforts for the federal Bureau of Justice Assistance and the
California Endowment. His current projects include geospatial mapping of
community college enrollment and probation in California for the Ford
Foundation, and statistical analyses of incarcerations for the California Conviction
Integrity Project.
Prior to joining the Warren Institute, McCarthy earned a Master
of Public Policy in 2012 from the Sol Price School of Public Policy at the
University of Southern California, producing his practicum research project on
small business pension participation for the Congressional Research Service and
completing a graduate management internship with the County of Marin
Administrator’s Office.
