
The LL.M. Certificate of Specialization in AI Law and Regulation provides an industry-endorsed foundation in AI focused on building core skills and knowledge in areas including intellectual property, data privacy, licensing, and risk. This certificate, the first of its kind, has been specifically designed for the LL.M. executive track to allow busy professionals to grapple with the real-time legal issues introduced by artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
Program Requirements
To qualify for the LL.M. Executive Track AI Law and Regulation certificate, a student must complete a total of 11 units from the following list of courses:
- AI Transactions and Licensing (2 units)
- AI in Biotechnology Law (1 unit)
- Advanced IT Contracts: Drafting and Negotiating (1 unit)
- Antitrust and Emerging Technologies (3 units)
- Copyright Law (3 units)
- Corporate Strategy in the Age of AI and Geopolitics (1 unit)
- Cybersecurity Law Fundamentals (1 unit)
- Cybersecurity in Context: Technology, Policy, and Law (3 units)
- Fundamentals of AI Technology (2 units)
- GenAI in Legal Practice (1 unit)
- Global Regulation of AI (1 unit)
- Hot Topics in AI (Fall) (1 unit)
- Information Privacy Law (3 units)
- Making AI Work for the People (1 unit)
- The Law and Governance of Artificial Intelligence (2
units) - Trust and Safety (1 unit)
- Video Game Law (1 unit)

Deadlines
There are two review deadlines for the LL.M. Executive Track AI Law and Regulation Certificate:
Friday, July 10, 2026 (Summer Graduates)
Friday, December 4, 2026 (December Graduates)
Applications will be reviewed on these two dates, and not on a rolling basis. These dates are to accommodate those students who graduate at different times of the year.
