Sponsors and Students

BCLT Sponsor Word Cloud 24-25

BCLT’s law firm partners play a crucial role in supporting student activities, including our highly regarded journals, student specialization groups, student-led conferences, speaker lectures and panels, and career and recruiting events.

Student Opportunities at BCLT—How sponsors play a role

Below are the vital experiences and activities our sponsors make possible for Berkeley Law students. To see our complete list of student journals and organizations, go here.

The Berkeley Technology Law Journal (BTLJ) and the Berkeley Journal of Entertainment and Sports Law (BJESL)

These journals publish scholarly articles, case notes, and legal commentary written by students. Funding from law firms helps cover printing costs, editorial expenses, and distribution. By their support, BCLT’s sponsors contribute to legal scholarship and provide students with opportunities to develop advanced research and writing skills that will serve them well as lawyers.

  • The Berkeley Technology Law Journal is a student-run publication of University of California, Berkeley School of Law focused on intellectual property, high-technology, and biotechnology. It is published four times a year. BTLJ strives to keep judges, policymakers, practitioners, and the academic community abreast of this dynamic field.
  • The Berkeley Journal of Entertainment & Sports Law (BJESL) is dedicated to providing a wide selection of intellectual and practical discussions from scholars, practitioners, and students on legal issues that contemporaneously impact the sports and entertainment industries, both domestically and internationally. As an interactive and electronic law review, BJESL presents a unique platform for rich discourse on legal topics regarding copyright, trademark, art, sports, music, film & television, communications & broadcast media, First Amendment, rights to privacy, antitrust and unfair competition, and contracts, among others.

Student Specialization Groups

BCLT’s student groups focus on specific legal interest areas, diversity, and professional development. They organize various activities, such as panel discussions, workshops, and networking events.

Careers—Connecting students and law firms

In progress: we provide career information directed at those interested in tech and IP.  We partner with our sponsors (with a link) to provide this information, etc.  Great place to mention our 8-part career series for 1Ls and the career lunches. Mention the firms that students can expect to see.  And then put my doodle here.  And add the list of career opportunities here–saying something about we work with our sponsors to list their opportunities here.

Career Series and Recruiting Events

These events allow our sponsor law firms to meet students and discuss job opportunities. By engaging with students early in their legal education, firms can identify potential hires and build relationships.
