UC BERKELEY’S ONLINE PROPOSAL ROUTING AND APPROVAL SYSTEM

Phoebe is UC Berkeley’s web-based system for proposal routing and approvals.  Principal Investigators and the Dean can review and approve Berkeley Law proposals from anywhere 24/7 and route them electronically to the Sponsored Projects Office or the Industry Alliances Office for the required University endorsement.

Berkeley Law proposals can be developed, saved, edited, canceled, copied, shared, reviewed, routed for approval, submitted and subsequently revised online, via Phoebe. Phoebe maintains a log of all activity on a proposal and offers an optional validation feature that identifies errors and/or incomplete information that will prevent a successful submission. Phoebe serves as the official record of a proposal, eliminating the need for paper record-keeping in the department.

Principal Investigators will access Phoebe to review, approve and route their completed proposals to the Dean for departmental approval.  After the PI approves a proposal, the Dean receives an immediate automated email alert – with a convenient link to the proposal in Phoebe – and his approval action automatically routes proposals to the Sponsored Projects Office or the Industry Alliances Office for endorsement and subsequent submission to the sponsor.
