Conflicts of Interest

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

A conflict of interest exists when a Principal Investigator’s outside financial interests or obligations – real or perceived – have the potential to bias a research project or cause harm to human subjects participating in a research project.  University of California systemwide conflict-of-interest policies, specific State of California law, and federal regulations apply to all UC Berkeley investigators.

The faculty Conflict of Interest Committee reviews and assesses all financial disclosures related to research projects and determines any actions required to manage or eliminate real or perceived conflicts of interest.

Your pre-award contact will provide guidance on compliance and completion of any required forms during the proposal development process.
