Berkeley Law Summer Fellowship Applications due by 5pm on April 1.
The Berkeley Law Summer Fellowship Program provides $4000 to JD students who are completing a first summer of qualifying public interest or public sector (government) summer work. The Program also provides additional funding to 2L students who are completing a second summer of eligible work. Note: Judicial externships are not eligible for Berkeley Law Fellowship funding.
By applying for external, student organization, or Federal Work Study funding, students may increase the total amount of funds available to them for summer public service work. Students can use Berkeley Law Summer Fellowship funds in combination with other funding sources. The Fellowship will supplement any additional funds that a student receives, up to a cap. In addition, by securing supplemental sources of funding, students are often able to “bank” unused Berkeley Law Summer Fellowship funds for use during a second summer of public interest/public sector work. Click here to find out how the funding cap and “banking” option work.
Berkeley Law Summer Fellowship applications are due by 5 p.m. on April 1, 2010! Please click here to review the Fellowship Guidelines and to complete the Fellowship Application form. You can also apply for summer funding offered by a number of student organizations using the same form (individual organizations may require additional documentation; please review the Guidelines).
The principal requirement for receiving funding is the completion of 25 hours of pro bono work (prior to the April 1, 2010 application deadline). If you are not already well on your way to satisfying the 25-hour pro bono requirement for receiving funding through the Program, you need to begin completing hours immediately to make the April 1 deadline. Please click here for a detailed description of how the pro bono requirement may be satisfied.
