The Berkeley Center for Law and Business (BCLB) announced Ken Taymor as its new executive director this week.
Taymor is currently an attorney with MBV LAW in San Francisco where he specializes in the organizational, operational, and financial needs of privately held companies.
In the 1980s, Taymor practiced at Morrison & Foerster in the areas of corporate structuring and financing, mergers and acquisitions, and non-profit businesses. Later, he was a special assistant in the San Francisco city attorney’s office where he oversaw the development agreement for the Mission Bay project and advised the city’s pension fund on investment policies and programs.
Taymor was a lecturer at the Stanford Law School and the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a visiting professor at UCLA Law School, where he created courses on corporate finance and acquisitions, emerging businesses, and development finance.
Taymor graduated from Yale Law School where he was the article and book review editor of the Yale Law Journal. He received his A.B. at Princeton University.
“Eric Talley (Boalt professor and center co-director) and I are very excited by Ken’s arrival, and look forward to continuing to build the center with him,” says Professor Jesse Fried, also a BCLB co-director. “Ken’s impressive background in academics and practice, as well as familiarity with how UC Berkeley operates, makes him an ideal candidate for the position.”
Dana Welch ’87, the former executive director, will remain on BCLB’s advisory board.
“Dana’s energy, leadership, and perseverance have been critical to the formation and success of the center over the last two years, and we look forward to her continued involvement with BCLB through her position on the board,” Fried says.
