Every September, the Boalt events calendar includes a lively luncheon to recognize faculty authors who have published in the past year. Although it’s not the Oscars or Emmy’s, as master of ceremonies Professor Robert Berring ’74 quipped, it is an occasion for kudos, superlatives and good humor. Berring has made it a tradition to offer his own special awards, among them the “longest tome, best dedication and most expensive” volume. Interspersed amid the entertaining accolades, there is admiration and respect for the prolific colleagues who have managed to complete important professional works while teaching and helping keep Boalt ahead of the curve.
