From the Airport, we recommend the following options:
From OAKLAND Airport:
BART The least expensive way to get from the airport to Berkeley is to take Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). You can get from Oakland airport to ‘Downtown Berkeley’ station in an hour for under $6.
Shuttles: Airport Connection 415/885-2666 or 800/AIRPORT: $20 door-to-door, $13 to a hotel, Bayporter 510/864-4000 or 415/467-1800: $16 + $10 for each additional passenger, Express Airport Shuttle 800/675-1115: $15, OakAirporter 510/568-7433: $15 door-to-door, $10 to a hotel.
From SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL Airport:

Parking
Underhill Lot
Located at the corner of Channing and College, this lot is a 5-10 minute walk from I-House. The campus shuttle (R line) runs from Underhill Lot to I-House every 24 minutes. See route schedule at http://pt.berkeley.edu/around/transit/routes
Open to the public on weekends and weeknights after 5 pm. Park on any level, note your space number and pay at the machines next to the elevator. $2 per hour weeknights and Saturday, 50 cents per hour on Sundays.
Boalt Lot
This is the closest public parking to I-House. From Hearst Ave., turn right on Gayley. Immediately past the Haas School of Business, turn right and then left into the lot. Directly ahead you will see a yellow pay station. Weekends and weeknights after 5 pm, $1 per hour, $12 max.
Bancroft Structure Lot (Tennis Courts)
This is also close to I-House but more expensive. Located on Bancroft, west of College Ave and across the street from the Berkeley Art Museum. Open to the public on weekends and weeknights after 5 pm. Pay $3 for the first hour and $2 for each additional hour at the yellow pay station.
Prospect Court Lot
Located up the hill and behind I-House – a short but steep walk. From Piedmont Ave. one block south of International House, turn east on Channing, left on Prospect, and enter the parking lot. Open to the public on weekends and after 5 pm, pay 50 cents per half hour at the yellow pay station. Park in the center or east rows (NOT in the west row).
Street Parking
Street parking at meters is free after 6 pm. In non-metered areas, parking is free for two hours and unregulated after 7 pm. Meters are free with a California disabled placard.

Local Lodging
Special Symposium Hotel Room Rates at Durant
All attendees are advised to make their hotel reservations as soon as possible and well before the expiration date of the special symposium room rate. Hotel rooms at the special rate will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis, and the supply of these rooms most likely will be exhausted well in advance of the expiration date.
DURANT HOTEL
The Festschrift room rate at Hotel Durant is $169 for Deluxe Queen Room and $179 for Deluxe King Room per night plus additional fees and taxes. To be assured of receiving the conference rate reservations must be made no later than March 23, 2009 by 5PM PST.
Below are brief instructions that the hotel has provided for online registration:
1. Enter your Arrival Date and Number of Nights in the drop-down menus adjacent to the Durant Hotel (Book A Room drop-down menu)
2. Click on Check Availability
3. Click on the Group Reservation link in the bottom left corner of the page
4. Enter 413744 as the attendee code
5. Click on Attendee Login
6. Enter the Arrival and Departure dates for your reservation
7. Click on Continue
8. Click on Select (under Daily Rate—“USD XXX”)
9. Fill in required information to complete reservation 10. Click on Submit
