In this workshop, we will explore and present research on the changing landscape of board governance in public US corporations. With institutional investors now controlling an increasing portion of companies’ stocks, boards are developing new approaches for communicating with a more sophisticated and well-resourced shareholder base. At the same time, a wave of recent corporate crises shows that society’s expectations of companies are changing, demanding corporate managers not only to adhere to legal requirements but also to show ethical leadership.
