“This event was so empowering,” says Erika Hernandez ’18. “Now my friends aren’t just talking about externships or clerkships, they’re considering a path to the bench. That’s what access does.”
Three judges, including two Berkeley Law grads, took center stage at the La Raza Latinx Judicial Panel and Reception in March. Venable partner Angel Garganta ’92 sponsored and moderated the event, which featured Judges Steven González ’91 (Washington Supreme Court), Dalila Corral Lyons ’84 (Los Angeles County Superior Court), and Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers (U.S District Court for the Northern District of California).
Planned by the La Raza Law Students Association and the Career Development Office, the event enabled students to talk with the trio before and after their panel, when the judges described their paths to the bench and tips for law school and career success.
