Three recent Boalt graduates are recipients of University of California, Berkeley Foundation (UCBF) awards recognizing their outstanding achievements supporting the law school. Ritu Bhatnagar ’05, Jill Meyers ’05 and Javier Rivera ’05 will be honored with 2005 Young Bear Awards at ceremonies set for February 23.
As co-chairs of Boalt’s Class of 2005 Campaign, Bhatnagar, Meyers and Rivera led a fundraising program in which 76 percent of their classmates made a gift to Boalt. The trio developed a winning campaign strategy that relied on a peer-to-peer approach. Encouraging classmates to “raise the bar,” the three improved on the 69 percent participation rate of the previous year’s graduating class.
In addition to serving on the Class of 2005 Campaign, Bhatnagar and Rivera were co-presidents of their class. Meyers was a student representative on the Boalt Hall Alumni Association Board of Directors from 2003 to 2005. The three alums are among 21 volunteers, chosen from throughout the Berkeley campus, to receive 2005 UCBF awards. Bhatnagar, Meyers and Rivera captured three of the four Young Bear Awards for 2005.
