WHAT: The University of California, Berkeley, School of Law will celebrate its annual commencement honoring all graduates in the Class of 2017.
Lieutenant Governor of California Gavin Newsom will be the Honored Guest Speaker at the commencement. Other speakers include Tirien Steinbach, a law school faculty member and executive director of the East Bay Community Law Center, and graduating students. Interim Dean Melissa Murray will offer remarks and introduce the speakers.
WHEN: Friday, May 12, 9:00 a.m.— 11:30 a.m. News media are encouraged to arrive by 9:00 a.m.
WHERE: Hearst Greek Theater, on Gayley Road at the southeast corner of the UC Berkeley campus (see campus map).
DETAILS: Greek Theater gates open at 8:00 am. At 8:30 a.m., Lt. Gov. Newsom will join the dean, faculty, and graduates for a processional from the law school to the theater.
The ceremony should last about 2.5 hours, starting with the speeches and award presentations.
