Cymie Payne ’97, associate director of the California Center for Environmental Law & Policy (CCELP), participated in a panel discussion at UC Berkeley’s Cal Day that explored some of the world’s most pressing environmental issues. Coinciding with Earth Day, the April 22, 2006, talk focused on disturbing trends involving global warming, energy consumption and human health—and the work taking place throughout the campus to address those problems.
“We have very difficult decisions to make,” said Payne, who was quoted in an Oakland Tribune article. “Global Environmental Challenges and Opportunities: UC Berkeley’s Role” featured Payne, an expert in natural resource and environmental law, and other UC Berkeley environmental specialists in an event organized by the multidisciplinary Berkeley Institute of the Environment.
