Boalt graduates gathered on May 17 to launch the Silicon Valley Alumni Chapter with a spirited discussion on corporate governance and an introduction to the law school’s newest think tank. The kick-off event at Fenwick & West in Mountain View featured a talk by Professor Jesse Fried focusing on governance arrangements of venture-backed startups. Dana Welch ’87, executive director of The Berkeley Center for Law and Business (BCLB), described some of the exciting projects being undertaken by this multidisciplinary research institute.
Lynn Pasahow ’72 hosted the event, which drew transactional lawyers, venture capital specialists and others, spanning a wide range of class years. Participants mingled and networked at an informal reception that preceded the meeting. Jointly sponsored by the Silicon Valley Alumni Chapter and BCLB, the event was the first in a series of professional and social gatherings intended to reach out to Boalt graduates where they work and live.
