What: “Global Financial Market Turmoil,” a panel discussion by a group of distinguished University of California, Berkeley, scholars who will analyze the pending financial crisis.
Experts in economics, business, public policy, and law will analyze how the financial market meltdown occurred, evaluate the government’s response, and explain its impact on American households and global markets. The event is being co-sponsored by UC Berkeley School of Law’s Berkeley Center for Law and Business (BCLB) and the Institute of Governmental Studies’
Center on Institutions & Governance (CIG).

J. Bradford DeLong, professor of economics, on the macroeconomic policy aspects of the crisis;
Aaron Edlin, Richard W. Jennings Professor of Law, on regulatory reform;
Barry Eichengreen, George C. Pardee and Helen N. Pardee Professor of Economics, and professor of political science; on the international impacts of the crisis;
John Quigley, interim dean of the Richard & Rhoda Goldman School of Public Policy, and professor of economics, public policy and business; on the housing crisis;
Nancy Wallace, Haas School of Business professor and co-chair of the business school’s Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics; on the financial market and what led to the current crisis.
