This course examines the Anglo-American law of proof, with special attention to the Federal Rules of Evidence in the United States. Topics include relevance, hearsay, confrontation, character evidence, witness competence, impeachment and rehabilitation, expert witnesses, scientific evidence, and privileges. There is a mandatory but ungraded motion-in-limine writing assignment, and a final examination that is largely multiple choice, with a policy essay component.
