Students assisted a client—and a broader group of public interest clients—in crafting an amicus curiae brief in the widely reported Yahoo! case. Yahoo! sought to enjoin the enforcement of a French court’s order requiring them to prevent French citizens from gaining access to Nazi memorabilia on Yahoo!’s US based site. The client and the broader public interest community sought to craft an amicus curiae brief laying out the broad public policy implications of enforcing the French court order. In particular, the brief explained the chilling effect on speech around the globe if speakers are forced to comply with the laws of every country as the order seeks.
