Student-Run Journals

Berkeley Law supports 13 student-run law journals.  Except for the California Law Review (CLR), you may join any of them by volunteering.  Membership on the California Law Review is determined by a write-on competition in which you are eligible to participate. We encourage you to view the time-sensitive instructions here.

The California Law Review was founded in 1912. At that time CLR was the first student law journal published west of Illinois and only the ninth Law Review in the entire nation. Since then, CLR has grown into one of the most prestigious law journals in America and is the sixth most cited law journal in the nation!  Click here to learn more.

Another popular journal is the Berkeley Technology Law Journal. BTLJ started in March 1985, published its first issue in Spring 1986, and have since covered emerging issues of law in the areas of intellectual property, high-tech and biotech. BTLJ strives to keep judges, policymakers, practitioners, and the academic community abreast of this dynamic field.  Membership to the Editorial Board of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal is determined by a write-on competition while general membership does not.  Click here to learn more.
