The Center for Law, Energy & the Environment (CLEE) seeks a UC Berkeley School of Law student to conduct legal research during the fall of 2025. The position is for a 15% (6 hours/week) appointment with the possibility of extension. This is a fully remote position. This position is contingent upon the candidate’s meeting the requirements for this academic appointment, as indicated in the eligibility requirements, below.
CLEE’s EV Equity Initiative is focused on state and local approaches to ensure equity in the electric vehicle transition. The student will support the Initiative by conducting original research on novel state law approaches to vehicle electrification, updating CLEE’s Equitable EV Action Plan Framework, identifying new scientific and policy analyses informing the transition, and more. The student will work directly with the initiative’s team lead.
Required qualifications
- Rising 2L or 3L
- Knowledge of environmental law basics
- Interest in clean transportation and vehicle electrification policy
- Strong writing skills, in particular digestible legal memoranda
Desired qualifications
- Knowledge of Clean Air Act and Energy Policy and Conservation Act
- Experience preparing legal analysis for policymaker audiences
