OCI Programs

We appreciate your interest in recruiting Berkeley Law students. We encourage you to review the statistics of our current entering class.

Berkeley Law has multiple OCI programs employers can participate throughout the year. Prior to the start of the Fall Semester classes we hold our Summer OCI, where students take part in interviews during the course of a week. Once classes are underway we host our Fall OCI, and during the beginning of the spring semester, we host the Winter OCI. See below for more detailed descriptions of these programs.

Private sector employers will be charged registration fees for our OCI programs. Public interest employers and government agencies are never charged registration fees. Berkeley Law does not permit employers in any of our OCI programs to review student transcripts in advance (nor do we permit employers to contact students directly for this information in advance of their interviews). Students are instructed to provide copies of their transcripts during their interviews.

Employers with positions available, but who are unable to attend any of the designated OCI program periods should email our Employer Relations and Recruitment Programs Manager, Elizabeth Granlund, at egranlund@law.berkeley.edu, and should consider posting a job announcement on our jobs database, b-Line.

Summer Preview Program

This year, Berkeley Law’s Career Development Office is introducing a preview program in advance of our traditional lottery-style interview program. We hope that this new program provides more transparency and structure for employers and students.

Students will be limited to 8 applications, and applications will contain resumes and transcripts. Once applications are made available to employers, employers will review and select candidates for interviews. Students will be notified of their selection status, and will then acknowledge/accept the selection (or withdraw, if applicable). Employers will be fully responsible for scheduling the interviews with students directly.

Participation in this program is independent of an employer’s election to participate in any of the CDO’s other OCI programs. We encourage employers to participate in all programs to maximize your recruiting efforts at Berkeley Law.

Summer Preview Program and Summer OCI Registration Information

Your registration will be considered complete when:

1) Your OCI program registration(s) are submitted via the Flo Recruit registration links below.

Summer Preview Program Registration

Please review the Flo Recruit Preselect Program Registration Instructions to help you with navigating the registration process.. Please note you will have the “Document Collect” option, please DO NOT choose that option. If you accidentally choose this option, we will correct it on the backend.

Summer OCI Registration

Please review the Flo Recruit Lottery Registration Instructions to help you with navigating the registration process.

2) You complete the precruiting survey included in your Flo Recruit registration confirmation email. Only one person needs to complete the survey for the firm and responses should include the recruiting information requested for all offices you are recruiting for this coming summer, not just the offices that you are registering for during our OCI programs. We will be using the information captured in this survey to help us counsel our students on the upcoming recruiting season. We will not consider your registration complete until we receive your survey responses.

The deadline to complete all parts of the registration process is Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to include the correct office locations and/or practice areas you are interviewing for in each registration.

Fall OCI

Our Fall OCI has a slightly later timeline with interviews being conducted in September, and is more tailored to the hiring timelines of public interest, government, and smaller firms, who are hiring for summer internship/associate programs, and/or entry-level positions. In comparison, the Summer Preview Program and Summer OCI are primarily structured for employers who are hiring summer interns/associates and entry-level associates on an accelerated and/or earlier timeline..

Employers who register for our Fall OCI will be able to sign-up for a resume collect or interview schedule option. Those who sign-up for the interview option will be able to select the candidates they want to interview. This biggest difference besides the timing of these programs are the ways in which employers are assigned interviews. Registration for Fall OCI will open on May 1st, 2024.

Winter OCI

Similar to our Fall OCI, students apply through the program and employers are then able to pre-screen applicants, inviting those in whom they are interested. Through the program employers may interview 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year students for summer internships and post-graduation positions.
