Letter from the Registrar

June 2019

Dear Incoming Student,

Congratulations on your special student status admission offer to Berkeley Law!

We are excited that you are coming and want to ensure you have all of the operational information you need related to grades and graduation.  As you consider our admission offer, please be aware that Berkeley Law’s grading deadlines tend to be later than most schools. We make every effort to have special status student pass notification available within a week or two after finals end in the middle of May.  However, this date is often too late for graduating visiting students. Check with your home school Registrar’s Office to ensure that our schedule will meet its requirements. You should also find out the exact date that your school will need confirmation that you have passed your classes.

When selecting your spring courses, we advise you to consider whether the faculty member will have sufficient time to provide pass notification for you by the date your school requires.  One thing to consider is that classes that have papers (rather than finals) can be easier to coordinate with the faculty member such that you can turn in the paper in time to meet your school’s deadline.  The policies at Berkeley do not allow us to give finals early.

In terms of next steps, please have your Registrar sign and submit the attached form, including your pass notification deadline.

As for receiving your grades after you have completed your year here, please be aware that official transcripts with grades will be available in mid June. Please submit the attached transcript request form to our office, so we may send your final transcript to your school.

Once again, congratulations, and we hope to see you in Berkeley!

Sincerely,

Carol Rachwald
Registrar
