Monday, March 18, 2024 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Colloquium

Monday, March 18, 12:30–1:45 pm PT, Room 113, Berkeley Law Building

This talk will review the economics literature that relates democratic institutions to economic performance and whether there is a causal relationship between these two factors. We will then discuss this in the context of Israel today and how the strength or weakening of its democratic institutions can affect (both now and in the foreseeable future) its economic performance.

Shirlee Lichtman Sadot, Israel Institute Visiting Professor at the Helen Diller Institute; Senior Lecturer, Economics Department, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev

This event is open to UC Berkeley students, faculty, and staff. A kosher lunch will be provided for all registrants beginning at noon.
