Conversation with Francois Zimeray and Dean Chemerinsky

Thursday, April 18, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

The event will be held on Thursday, April 18 at 9AM PT

The Jewish Student Association at Berkeley Law is excited to host a virtual conversation with Francois Zimeray moderated by Dean Chemerinsky. Mr. Zimeray, who will be joining us virtually from France, is a former Member of the European Parliament, former French Ambassador to Denmark, and former French Ambassador-at-Large for Human Rights. Currently he is co-chair of the law firm Zimeray & Finelle and is representing Israeli victims of Hamas at the ICC.

Topics of discussion will include Mr. Zimeray‘s path as an international human rights lawyer and diplomat, including his human rights work in Russia, Ukraine, Rwanda, Burma, Sri Lanka, Algeria, Congo, among multiple other countries. The talk will also cover challenges and trends in human rights. Additionally, Mr Zimeray and the Dean will discuss Mr. Zimeray‘s role as counsel representing victims of the October 7 attacks at the International Criminal Court, as well as his view of the Israel-Hamas conflict from an international law perspective.
