Berkeley Latine Journal of Law & Policy’s Annual Symposium: “State-Sanctioned Violence Against Women”

The Berkeley Latine Journal of Law & Policy Invites you to our annual Symposium. This year, our theme is “State-Sanctioned Violence Against Women.” Our event is co-sponsored by Berkeley Law’s Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice.

The Symposium will be held in-person on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Berkeley Law’s Goldberg Room, Room 297. 
 
This marquee event brings together our current journal volume’s authors, law and other students, professors, lawyers, activists and other community members to learn about and discuss how social movements and the law can be a tool to address and dismantle state violence.

Schedule Breakdown:

  • 9:30- 9:45AM: Welcome and Symposium Introduction

  • 9:45AM-11:15 Panel 1: Capital Punishment & Trauma

  • 11:20-12:55PM: Panel 2: Gendered Violence in the Penal System

  • 1-1:55PM: Lunch

  • 2-3:30PM: Panel 3: Global Perspectives on Feminicide

  • 3:30-4PM: Keynote

  • 4-5 PM: Reception
