This class shows students how practicing lawyers use their legal training to help their clients solve complex business and legal problems. The class uses the consumer payment and lending industry as the backdrop for the examination of how legal skills are brought to bear on such problems and how competing interests intersect to shape the law. Although antitrust law is not a pre-requisite for this class, this class will examine the persistent antitrust challenges that have been directed at the payment industry and explore how the industry has responded to these challenges. The instructor has played a key role in industry shaping events as an attorney for Visa, PayPal and other firms in the industry.
