This course is intended for thesis-track LLMs. It aims to help them prepare for and execute the writing of the LLM thesis. The course introduces various forms of American legal scholarship, and disaggregates and analyzes the task of researching, framing, organizing, and writing a major scholarly paper. It also introduces students to techniques of workshopping and commentary, though which they can assist each other with the process of elaborating and revising their ideas.
Students should be accepted into the LLM thesis track, and have identified an advisor and a topic.
