The course will examine antitrust cases arising in high-technology markets, and will focus on the intersection of antitrust and intellectual property. The course will cover such issues as: exclusionary practices involving IP; the Microsoft antitrust cases; IP as an "essential facility"; refusals to deal involving IP; antitrust issues arising from standard setting in high-tech markets; mergers in high-tech markets; tying and bundling of IP; and antitrust issues arising from settlements of patent litigation. Students will read correct cases and will be expected to write a legal brief on a topic of their choosing.

This course may satisfy the Writing Requirement.
