Visiting Faculty and Scholars Application

The Berkeley Institute for Jewish Law and Israel Studies houses two core programs, the Berkeley Program on Israel Studies and the Berkeley Program on Jewish Law, Thought, and Identity. The Berkeley Institute supports multidisciplinary courses, programs, and scholarship in Israel and Jewish Studies and serves as a thriving hub for student, faculty, and community engagement.  In its various capacities, the Berkeley Institute serves both Berkeley Law and the UC Berkeley campus, often serving as a bridge through its academic programs and collaborations.  Learn more about the Berkeley Institute here.

The Berkeley Institute for Jewish Law and Israel Studies invites applications for the Visiting Faculty and Scholars Program from a wide range of disciplines relating to Israel Studies.  The Berkeley Institute is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 year.  

Visiting Faculty

The deadline to apply as a visiting faculty is September 30, 2016.  Visiting faculty teach courses in a range of deparments, and engage with students and faculty across campus. This is a faculty appointment.

1.  Letter of Interest
2.  Full Curriculum Vitae
3.  Teaching proposal, including sample syllabi or course descriptions

Visiting Scholars

Applications for the visiting scholars program will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with a final deadline of
April 1, 2017.  The Institute will consider applications for a semester or for the full academic year.

Application Requirements
1.Letter of Interest, specifying the time period they wish to be in residence at the Institute
2. Full Curriculum Vitae
3.Research Statement
4. Source of funding while visiting Berkeley,  e.g. sabbatical pay, scholarship, government funding, personal funds, etc.  Visiting scholars may be subject to administrative or visa fees.
