Three students in our Jurisprudence and Social Policy Program are Berkeley Empirical Legal Studies Graduate Fellows this school year. Nandina Babic (pictured) is examining community oversight of police surveillance, Michael Banerjee is researching the legal history of American universities and academic freedom, and Margot Lipin is studying the nexus of legal history, policing, and fashion. Run by the Center for the Study of Law and Society, the fellowship fuels UC Berkeley doctoral students’ interdisciplinary research projects that probe the origins, dynamics, and consequences of law and law-related institutions.
