The goal of the California Law Review Publishing Workshop is to help CLR members produce a publishable casenote or comment by the end of their 2L year. The Workshop will meet every other week for two hours in Spring 2012. To enroll, the CLR member must have completed a draft of a paper by January 9, 2012, preferably in conjunction with a writing seminar or a Law 299 individual writing program during the Fall 2011 semester. The student is also required to have attended the CLR Writing Program seminars in the fall.

The instructors will supervise and facilitate the Workshop meetings and will provide feedback on each student’s draft. Other Workshop activities include presentation of student work to the class; peer editing in small groups; and reading and comparison of sample writing. Understanding the differences between class papers and publishable notes and comments will be emphasized. Students will receive credit for the Workshop by producing a publishable note or comment, as determined by the instructor.

To enroll in this course, students should turn in their draft paper to Allie Hartry, CLR Senior Notes and Comments Editor, by January 9.

Workshop participants are required to have produced a draft, preferably in conjunction with a seminar or Law 299 individual writing program during Fall 2011, by Jan. 9, 2012. Students also are required to have participated in the CLR Writing Program seminars during the fall.
