Michael J. Schallop is a partner at Van Pelt, Yi & James LLP. He counsels investors and emerging Silicon Valley companies on IP strategy and patent portfolios, with a focus on deep-tech industries including quantum technologies and cybersecurity. He teaches patent law and technology law & policy, serves as a member of the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology (BCLT) Patent Advisory Board, and coaches Berkeley Law’s National Patent Application Drafting Competition team, which placed first nationally in 2021 and 2026 and second in 2024.
