We hope you had a great Thanksgiving Break! This week we wrap our Law & Tech Speaker Series for the semester with Finnegan LLP on Tuesday, November 28th and Orrick LLP on Thursday, November 30th. This will be the last EventNews for the Fall 2017 semester. Good luck on final exams!
On December 4, from 8:30am - 11:30am in the Goldberg Room, courtesy of White & Case LLP, coffee and pastries will be given away to students on a first-come, first-served basis to help keep students energized during review session. Look out for the flyers.

The Berkeley Center for Law & Technology (BCLT) and the Patent Law Society (PLS) are pleased to host a 1L Job Tech Fair featuring recruiters from BCLT sponsor law firms that are hiring 1L Summer Associates. Students, please bring copies of your resume.
Prior to the Tech Fair, recruiters will be participating in a patent panel and discussing what they look for in a 1L Summer Associate.
Please note: This event is primarily intended for 1Ls. BCLT is working with the ADP office to organize a special event for LL.M. students and the announcement will be circulated in a few weeks through the ADP office.

1L Knobbe Martens Diversity Scholarship Program
[Note: Please do not apply until December 1.]
As part of our commitment to diversity in the workplace, Knobbe Martens is proud to offer a 1L Diversity Scholarship Program which is open to qualified first-year law students interested in Intellectual Property Law. Recipients of the scholarship will be awarded a paid summer associate position following their first year of law school and a grant of up to $10,000. After completing the 1L Summer Associate Program, recipients will receive a grant of $5,000 and may receive an offer to return for the 2L Summer Associate Program. After completing the 2L Summer Associate Program, recipients may receive an offer to join the firm as an associate. If the offer is accepted, an additional $5,000 will be awarded. Applications for the 1L Diversity Scholarship Program will be accepted starting December 1.

NIH Bioethics Fellowship
The Department of Bioethics is pleased to offer a limited number of two-year post-doctoral and post-baccalaureate fellowships. Fellows participate in the activities and the intellectual life of our interdisciplinary department and study ethical issues related to biomedical research, clinical practice, genetics, biotechnology, public health, and health policy. They conduct mentored theoretical and empirical research on a range of bioethical fields of interest. For a typical fellow, this research yields multiple first-authored publications in premier academic journals. In addition to research and writing, fellows participate in weekly bioethics seminars, case conferences, ethics consultations, and IRB deliberations, and have access to multiple educational opportunities at NIH. No prior bioethics experience is required or expected.

William & Mary Law School invites you to participate in an essay contest relating to legal issues stemming from AI and the Internet of Things. Details are below.
1. Title of the competition: Innovative Legal Issues Likely to Arise from Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things
2. Deadline for submissions: Friday 1 December 2017 for students enrolled in law schools in the US and Canada
3. Who is eligible to apply: law students in good standing enrolled on a degree course (JD or LLM equivalent) during the 2017-2018 academic year
4. The prizes: First place: US $2,500, Second place: US $1,500, Third place: US $1,000
