Festschrift in Honor of Professor Philip Frickey, a day long symposium celebrating the scholarship and teaching of our colleague Philip Frickey, the Alexander F. and May T. Morrison Professor of Law at Berkeley Law, will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on the UC Berkeley campus at International House, Chevron Auditorium. Professor Frickey is not only a great scholar and teacher, but he has also played a crucial role in expanding the Berkeley Law school faculty and bringing many exciting new faculty members to Berkeley Law.
The symposium and the papers presented will focus on the three areas of Phil Frickey’s scholarship:
• Constitutional Law
• Legislation
• Indian Law
Presenters on Constitutional Law confirmed to participate include: William Eskridge, Yale Law School; our former Berkeley Law colleague Robert Post of Yale Law School; and Ernest Young, Duke University.
Presenters on Legislation include James Brudney, Ohio State Law School; James Emmett, Australian barrister; John Manning, Harvard Law; and Peter Strauss, Columbia Law.
Lunchtime remarks will be made by Frank Pommersheim, University of South Dakota School of Law and Richard Duncan of the Minnesota law firm Faegre & Benson.
The afternoon panel on Indian Law will feature presentations by Robert Anderson, University of Washington School of Law; Bethany Berger, University of Connecticut School of Law; and Sarah Krakoff , University of Colorado at Boulder Law School.
A reception and dinner will follow at the Berkeley City Club from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
