2016 NBTA Tournament of Champions – For Judges and Evaluators

Welcome, Judges and Evaluators!

This year, Berkeley Law will host the National Board of Trial Advocacy Tournament of Champions, one of the premier law school trial competitions in the nation. The competition will be held October 21-23, 2016, at the Phillip Burton Federal Building in San Francisco. The Tournament of Champions is generously sponsored by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA), GJEL Accident Attorneys, Keker & Van Nest LLP, and Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger.

We need experienced judges and practitioners to serve as judges and evaluators for the competition. Judges will preside over the trials while evaluators will assess the advocacy of the students and teams. Evaluators will be asked to score the teams on the basis of their trial skills, as demonstrated in direct and cross-examinations of witnesses, handling of exhibits, use and argument of objections, and arguments to the jury.

We would be honored if you would serve as a judge or evaluator on Friday, October 21 or Saturday, October 22, 2016. For more information and to sign up, please use the following links:

If you have any questions, please contact Barbara Karvelot, the Berkeley Law Advocacy Competitions Coordinator, at bkarvelot@law.berkeley.edu or 510-642-2667. Thank you very much in advance for your support. We look forward to seeing you in October!

Thank you to our sponsors!
