The UC Berkeley team of Jacob Shofet ’26 (left), Haas School of Business student Alec Carrier (center), and Jamile Simão LL.M. ’25 (right) won the annual Holland & Knight Joint Venture Negotiations Competition at UCLA. The event provides a competitive environment for solving real estate joint venture issues similar to those faced by lawyers in the field. Teams each negotiated two main issues based on information that was provided to them, with half of the teams representing the investor/financial partner and half representing the sponsor/operating partner.
