U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Rachel Bloomekatz and Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice Vladimir Devens ’87 recently shared their insights with members of the Berkeley Law community during the school’s annual Judges-in-Residence Program. The jurists spent two days visiting classes, meeting with student groups, conferring with the school’s Clerkship Committee, attending dinners with faculty, students, and local judges, and taking part in a lunchtime panel where they discussed judicial externships and clerkships as well as their own professional paths. Created by Assistant Dean of Career Development Eric Stern in 2013 and planned this year by Director of Judicial Clerkships Jonathan Mireles, the program has welcomed to Berkeley Law state and federal judges from across the country who help demystify the clerkship process and illuminate both the rewards and challenges of serving on the bench.
