Rebecca Goren ’26 capped a stellar law school career by winning the annual Top Gun National Mock Trial Competition and $10,000 first prize. Hosted by Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas, the tournament invites the best student advocate from each of the top 16 trial programs. This year’s participants received the case file for a 300-page complex products liability lawsuit centered on a fatal gas explosion just 24 hours before the event began, then competed in six rounds — with new witnesses and materials added as the competition progressed. You can watch a video of the final round in which Goren, coached by Berkeley Law alums Aaron Laycook ’10 and Dylan Hughes ’26, argued against New York University School of Law’s Ali Alekri.
