Alum Joan Donoghue ’81, a judge on the International Court of Justice from 2010 to 2024 and its president during her last three years, will teach Global Dispute Resolution at UC Berkeley Law during the spring semester. The course will cover key differences between the field’s civil law and common law traditions and the contrasting perspectives that stem from each — which she says reveal themselves in almost every international case — in order to enhance students’ ability to engage with the field of international adjudication and arbitration.
